Dhari Devi Temple is shrouded in mystery and enveloped with mythology. Dhari Devi is considered as the guardian deity of the Char Dhams. Chhota Char Dham<\/a> is considered as one of the most significant religious circuits in India. And the presiding deity of Dhari Devi shrine is worshipped as the protector of these divine land. The deity is believed to change in appearance during the day from a girl in the morning, to a woman in the afternoon, and finally to an old lady in the night. The upper part of Goddess Kali is believed to be here, while the idol’s lower half is located in Kalimath. There are 108 Shakti Peeth in India and these are two such holy shrines as per Srimad Devi Bhagwat. The idol was shifted from the original seat on a 20-metre-high rock to a man-made concrete platform so that it didn\u2019t submerge in the river while making way for the 330MW hydel project. A compelling legend is that it was only a few hours after priests and local people had shifted the idol (at about 6:30 pm on Sunday, the ill-fated 16th of June 2013) that the cloudburst wreaked havoc across Kedarkhand. Believers are of the opinion that Kedarnath and the adjoining areas of Uttarakhand were actually exposed to the savage wrath of the Goddess herself, who was enraged at the relocation. Entire villages and settlements such as Gaurikund and the market town of Ram Bada, a transition point to Kedarnath, had been obliterated by the deluge and the massive landslides. All this is attributed to the resentment of Dhari Devi herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surkanda devi temple <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surkanda devi temple is situated in Dhanaulti range of Uttarakhand. There is the story of the Surkunda Devi Temple. The whole story revolves around the goddess named Sati, who got married to lord Shiva but Sati\u2019s father, Daksha was not
happy with this marriage and he did not invite both of them to the Grand Vedic Sacrifice (Yagiya). And because of this, sati gets angry with her father so she decided to ruin
the Vedic Sacrifice and step into the fire and be reborn as Goddess Parvati and lord Shiva was sad and got angry at the loss of her wife then he picked up goddess Sati\u2019s body on his shoulder and started performing cosmic destruction which is also called Tandava. Other gods in heaven were scared that lord Shiva will destroy everything with his dance so they all asked lord Vishnu to stop him. Lord Vishnu sends his SUDARSHAN chakra and destroys the body of Sati and the places where the pieces of Sati\u2019s body were fallen, those places were known as Sakti Peethas. The place where Surkanda Devi is now, the head of Mata Sati was fallen there and the place<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mansa Devi Temple<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mata Mansa Devi is the Hindu goddess of snakes and she is mainly worshipped in Bengal, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand. She is worshipped for the prevention of snakebites along with prosperity and fertility. Mansa is Vasuki and Sheha\u2019s sister who is the king of Nagas (serpents) and the wife of sage Jaratkaru. She is also sage astika\u2019s mother. She has time and again been called the Vishahri or the destroyer of poison and Nitya or eternal. In certain scriptures, she has often been mentioned as sage Kashyap\u2019s daughter. She has been depicted to be kind to her devotees and very harsh to people who don\u2019t worship her. Due to her mixed parental lineage, she has been denied the position of full godhead but she aims to fully establish her authority as a goddess.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
